1922-Published a piece on the study of diffuse nebulae in the galaxy
1922-1926-Creates a classification system for galaxies
1923-Finds a Cepheid Variable in a nebula called Andromeda and measured distance to the galaxy showing it was outside the Milky Way
1924-Got a American Association prize for his paper Cepheids in Spiral Nebulae
1927-Was elected to the National Academy of Science of the United States
1928-Was elected to the Royal Astronomical Society of Britain
